Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. Showing respect and receiving respect from others is important. We learn to respect people and work to earn respect from others. Respect is the backbone of every relationship because it helps us feel safe and build trust.
Everybody wants to be respected but sometimes we find ourselves not feeling respected by other people; because they assume ‘you have not done enough to earn their respect’. When instances like this occur, you must react by either doing more to earn their respect if you’re indeed not doing enough or, you may decide to end the relationship if you are doing enough but, your effort is taken for granted.
